Hazelnut/ Walnut Tarts
Tart
Ingredients:
5 cups of plain flour
250g butter (softened – just put in microwave for 25 seconds)
2 packets (250g) cream cheese
Method:
Combine all ingredients together using your hand. Make a round shape, wrap in
cling wrap and rest in fridge. (overnight is best)
Filling
Ingredients:
3 cups of finely ground hazelnuts or walnuts
2 tsp of honey
3 egg yolks and 1 whole egg
2 cups of sugar (or you can adjust the sugar for sweetness)
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tbsp vanilla
lemon rind (optional)
Method:
Mix the chopped nuts, sugar and honey
Combine the eggs, melted butter and vanilla
Mix all together and set aside
Baking
Make a small tart case using a tart baking tray. Then put some of the filling in each tart case.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 180C. (Note: keep checking as oven temperatures vary).
Rest for 10 minutes to cool then tarts are ready to serve.
